What is Bowen?
The Bowen Technique (or Bowen Therapy) is a gentle manual therapy that uses targeted "moves" across muscle bellies and facial points. These moves help to relax tissues and enable the individual to shift from a fight-or-flight state into a relaxed state. During a session, your practitioner will apply the moves and leave the room for several minutes. This is to allow the recipient's body space to relax and respond. It is only for around 2 minutes at a time. Clothing may be worn during a Bowen session however some moves are best done directly on the skin. It is best to wear light clothing and be prepared to move clothing if needed. Bowen can be quick acting and typically few sessions are required for clients to experience the effects. On average 3-5 sessions is required, however more or less may be needed depending on the condition. |
Who Can Use Bowen?
Because of its gentle approach, Bowen treatments are generally safe for most conditions and all ages. As a rule, the only contraindications are no tailbone work during pregnancy or chest work in the presence of breast implants. For more information please visit: www.bowtech.com |
